Credit Officer

About the role

A Credit Officer is needed for Australian Liquor Marketers (ALM), the liquor wholesale division of Metcash, on a full-time, permanent basis at the Canning Vale office. The role manages the end-to-end credit lifecycle of customer accounts, balancing commercial outcomes with credit risk management. It is a hybrid arrangement: on-site three days per week, with the rest of the week worked remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Assess new credit applications in line with company policy and delegated authority
• Review financial information, trade references and supporting documentation
• Monitor customer trading performance and financial position
• Manage a ledger of customer accounts to ensure timely payment
• Carry out proactive collection activities such as calls, emails and dunning processes
• Watch accounts for signs of financial distress, payment irregularities or risk triggers
• Apply credit holds or restrictions in line with policy where required

Required profile

• Strong understanding of credit risk principles and cash collection strategies
• Experience in an end-to-end credit control environment
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Understanding of overdue debt levels and ageing profiles
• Ability to balance commercial outcomes with risk management
• High attention to detail with strong documentation discipline
