Cost Controller – Project Cost Management

About the role

The Cost Controller supports the Project Manager and Project Controls Lead in managing the project cost baseline, forecasts and financial performance. The role ensures reliable cost data and provides timely insights for effective decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Establish project control budgets from approved estimates and schedules, understanding scope and execution plan.
• Maintain cost structures, budgets, commitments, actuals, accruals, VOWD and cost reports.
• Support cost forecasting, cash‑flow and variance analysis, and review contractor cost reports and invoices.
• Collaborate with the Project Planner on progress measurements and validate unit‑rate information.
• Escalate cost risks, unsupported contractor claims and data‑quality issues.
• Maintain cost data integrity across CMMS (Maximo, S/4HANA), Excel and Power BI.
• Assess cost impact of change control and incorporate approved changes into forecasts.
• Prepare inputs for dashboards and governance reports.

Required profile

• Significant experience in project cost control within oil & gas, refining or heavy‑industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of project cost management, financial governance and cost reporting.
• Proven ability to develop EAC, perform trend analysis and predict final costs.
• Understanding of contractor cost control, invoice verification and progress validation.
