Cook – Luxury Sydney Harbour Cruise

About the role

Journey Beyond Cruise Sydney offers a Cook position aboard its 78ft luxury cruiser, the Spirit of Migloo, which departs from Darling Harbour and runs lunch and dinner cruises as well as private charters. Working under the guidance of the Chef, you will prepare and present high-quality dishes for lunch, dinner and private charters, supporting end-to-end kitchen operations in a fast-paced marine environment. The role may be rostered across any day of the week, including weekends and public holidays, with shifts of up to 12 hours during peak season between 8:30 am and 11:00 pm.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook ingredients to recipe, delivering high-quality food on time and to a consistent standard.
• Support food presentation, baking and pastry preparation under supervision.
• Work with the kitchen brigade to set up and close down stations and keep service running smoothly.
• Identify and communicate allergens and dietary requirements, with clear labelling and careful food handling.
• Store food correctly, rotate stock and keep the workspace clean, hygienic and well presented.
• Complete cleaning and dishwashing duties when required.
• Follow marine emergency procedures, operational work instructions, HR requirements and WHS policies, and report hazards or incidents promptly.

Required profile

• Experience in a similar kitchen role.
• Basic cooking skills and a sound understanding of common culinary techniques.
• Safe Food Handling Certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to food quality, safety and continuous improvement.
• Ability to work independently and as a positive team member, with high standards of personal grooming and presentation.
• Current working rights in Australia; a pre-employment medical and National Police check may be required.
• Willingness to accept that sponsorship is not available.
