Contract Specialist

About the role

Altrad is seeking an experienced Contract Specialist to join its central commercial team at the Subiaco head office. Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will drive contract performance, mitigate risk and protect the business across the full project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct pre‑contract reviews, prepare risk analyses, mitigation strategies and draft NDAs and other commercial documents.
• Manage head‑contract obligations including progress claims, variations, extensions of time and final accounts.
• Develop and implement commercial strategies with Project Managers to maximise opportunities and minimise risk.
• Oversee subcontract and supplier commercial management, including the preparation and placement of subcontract agreements.
• Provide commercial insight, identify risks and opportunities and recommend corrective actions.
• Lead, mentor and develop members of the commercial team.
• Support tendering and business development with commercial input and market risk assessments.
• Ensure compliance with contractual, financial and HSEQ requirements and maintain governance standards.
• Manage insurance renewals, claims and liaison with insurance brokers.

Required profile

• Proven senior experience in contracts/commercial leadership within the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of head contracts, subcontract management and claims processes (variations, EOTs, final accounts).
• Ability to analyse complex contracts, identify risks and develop mitigation plans.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
