Consultant Geriatrician

About the role

The public health service in Adelaide is expanding its geriatric medicine department and seeks experienced Consultant Geriatricians. This role offers a well‑supported environment with strong multidisciplinary collaboration, teaching, research and leadership opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive inpatient, outpatient and community‑based geriatric care.
• Lead geriatric evaluation and management services, including acute care of older persons.
• Provide emergency intervention and consultative geriatrics across the network.
• Collaborate with rehabilitation, palliative care, aged‑care and community health teams.
• Participate in teaching junior medical staff and contribute to service development.

Required profile

• Board‑certified in Geriatric Medicine with several years of clinical experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to high‑quality patient care, teaching and research.
• Willingness to engage in service expansion and quality improvement initiatives.

Required skills

• Expertise in comprehensive geriatric assessment.
• Proficiency in managing acute and chronic conditions in older adults.
• Experience with multidisciplinary care planning.
