Research Physician

About the role

CMAX is seeking a qualified medical practitioner to join its clinical research team in Adelaide. The Research Physician will support the safe conduct of Phase I and early‑phase clinical trials, applying clinical expertise to participant screening, safety monitoring and study documentation. The role can be full‑time or part‑time (minimum three days per week) and offers the chance to work in a state‑of‑the‑art facility adjacent to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Perform physical examinations and comprehensive medical history assessments for trial participants.
• Review and authorise clinical pathology results, vital signs and ECGs, identifying clinically significant findings.
• Ensure participant safety by monitoring adverse events and implementing appropriate medical interventions.
• Collaborate with Principal Investigators, nurses and research staff to maintain protocol compliance.
• Document clinical observations and contribute to study reports and regulatory submissions.

Required profile

• Medical degree with current registration to practice in Australia.
• Experience in clinical practice, preferably with exposure to clinical research or early‑phase trials.
• Strong analytical and decision‑making abilities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Commitment to patient safety and ethical conduct of research.

Required skills

• Interpretation of ECG and clinical pathology results.
• Conducting physical examinations and medical history taking.
