Consultant - Emergency Department Perth City WA

About the role

We are seeking experienced Emergency Medicine consultants to join the WA Virtual Emergency Department (WAVED) based at the St John Ambulance WA Operations Centre in Belmont, Perth. The role is fixed‑term, full‑time and involves delivering comprehensive clinical care to patients remotely through our virtual platform.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality emergency medical assessments and treatment to patients using the WAVED virtual service.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure safe and appropriate virtual care pathways.
• Contribute clinical expertise and leadership to continuously improve the virtual emergency service.
• Support the reduction of physical ED presentations by offering suitable home‑based care options.

Required profile

• Fellow of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (FACEM).
• Current registration to practice medicine in Western Australia.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Required skills

• Advanced clinical decision‑making in emergency medicine.
• Proficiency with telehealth platforms and virtual patient assessment.
