Construction Director - Nuclear Submarine Yard Project

About the role

Laing O'Rourke, together with its joint venture partner Amentum Australia, is supporting Australian Naval Infrastructure (ANI) to deliver the Nuclear-Powered Submarine Construction Yard (NPSCY) project at Osborne, South Australia. The Construction Director supports the Project Director in managing client expectations and overseeing the project's cost and design procurement.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Project Director so that client expectations are met, including setting up a project brief, understanding development drivers, establishing a cost plan within the agreed budget, and identifying and mitigating risks.
• Develop an overall design procurement strategy so that selected consultants fully understand the key project drivers.
• Oversee cost planning to develop an overall project cost plan and develop the design in line with the project budget.
• Contribute to achieving Laing O'Rourke safety targets and uphold a zero tolerance of unsafe or environmentally unconsidered working practices.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical or Electrical) or Construction Management, or equivalent.
• Australian citizenship, and ability to hold or obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance at NV1 level.
• Ability to communicate at all levels, from directors to operatives.
