Construction Coordinator

About the role

The Australian Antarctic Division (AAD) is seeking a Construction Coordinator to support the delivery of building and infrastructure projects at its Antarctic and sub‑Antarctic stations. Reporting to the Project Leads, the role blends independent work with collaboration across a wide project team, offering exposure to remote construction in extreme environments.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with planning, scheduling and design management for capital projects.
• Manage subcontractors and oversee inspection of off‑site fabrications.
• Provide remote site supervision and direction to on‑station construction teams.
• Coordinate procurement of services, materials and equipment, liaising with suppliers.
• Perform estimating, take‑offs and preparation of cargo for shipping.
• Support Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) compliance and quality management processes.
• Prepare project reports and documentation as required.

Required profile

• Experience in the construction industry, preferably with exposure to remote or harsh‑environment projects.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to develop project‑management capabilities.
