Conference & Event Officer - National Healthcare Congress

About the role

A national healthcare membership organisation representing over 16,000 healthcare professionals across Australia is looking for a Conference & Event Officer to deliver its flagship national congress in Adelaide in 2027, with 2,000 to 3,500 attendees. This is a hands-on, full-time 6-month contract worth $115k plus super, with hybrid working (WFH/WFO) and a preferred base in St Leonards, NSW; Canberra, Melbourne or Brisbane candidates are also welcome. The anticipated start date is early to mid-December 2026 or early January 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the end-to-end national congress project plan, timelines and milestones.
• Act as the key point of contact with the external PCO, ensuring delivery alignment.
• Manage relationships with sponsors, exhibitors, speakers, suppliers and partners.
• Coordinate committees, meetings and stakeholder engagement.
• Oversee budgets, expenditure, approvals and reporting.
• Work with marketing and communications on event promotion and deliverables.
• Support on-site delivery of the congress in Adelaide 2027.
• Deliver post-event reporting, insights and evaluation, and identify ways to improve revenue and member experience.

Required profile

• Experienced events professional with ownership of large-scale conference or major event delivery; association, membership, peak body, royal college, healthcare or PCO experience is ideal.
• Confident managing end-to-end project delivery, including complex timelines, budgets and competing priorities.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills across internal and external groups.
• Proactive, hands-on and solutions-focused, with strong attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
