Compliance Officer (Part-Time)

About the role

Nambucca Valley Council is looking for a practical, confident and solutions-focused Compliance Officer to join its Development and Environment Services team. This is a part-time role of about 21 hours per week (3 days per week) in Macksville, NSW, combining fieldwork, legislation and community engagement. You will investigate complaints, inspect properties and make sure development, land use and environmental activities comply with relevant legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate compliance matters, responding to complaints about building works, land use, development approvals and environmental concerns.
• Conduct inspections and audits, monitoring development consent conditions, inspecting swimming pools and auditing industrial operations.
• Manage enforcement matters: investigate breaches, prepare reports and issue notices, orders or infringements where required.
• Work with the community by giving advice, resolving concerns and liaising with residents, businesses and government agencies.

Required profile

• Ability to read, interpret and apply legislation, and to assess situations objectively.
• Experience in local government investigations, enforcement or development compliance, along with relevant qualifications, is highly regarded.
• Transferable experience in investigations, regulatory administration or a similar field is also welcome.
• Current Class C driver's licence.
