Compliance Investigations Officer (Flexible)

About the role

The Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) is seeking a Compliance Investigations Officer to conduct desktop‑based investigations, interpret legislation and deliver clear decisions that uphold regulatory integrity in Queensland’s building industry.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct desktop investigations of building certifier complaints, reviewing technical reports and drafting information notices in line with the Building Act.
• Research and apply provisions of building and planning legislation to assess compliance.
• Collaborate with internal QBCC stakeholders to inform decision‑making and support building certifier audits.
• Provide high‑quality customer service by informing certifiers and complainants of case progress, explaining decisions and responding to information requests.

Required profile

• Ability to interpret and apply building and planning legislation.
• Understanding of investigation principles, judicial fairness, information privacy and burden of proof.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate, high‑quality work.
• Excellent record‑keeping and written communication skills.
