Community Engagement Officer/Lead – Northern Territory

About the role

The Community Engagement Officer/Lead will drive two‑way engagement and knowledge sharing with communities across the Northern Territory, focusing on remote, First Nations, multicultural and transient populations. The role is part of the Decision Support Services Program and works closely with the Bureau's Hazard Preparedness and Response team in Darwin.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver community engagement initiatives from planning through evaluation.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with community organisations, emergency management agencies and government partners.
• Support remote and very remote communities in preparing for and responding to natural hazards.
• Collaborate with the Hazard Preparedness and Response team to align with broader Bureau priorities.

Required profile

• Excellent relationship‑building and stakeholder collaboration skills.
• Adaptable, outcomes‑focused and comfortable in a dynamic environment.
• Proven experience in community engagement, especially with First Nations peoples.
• Ability to work across diverse climates and hazard environments in the Territory.
