Communications Coordinator – Public Transport Operations

About the role

The Communications Coordinator supports the Translink Operations Centre by creating and delivering real‑time customer communications during unplanned service disruptions across bus, rail, ferry and light rail networks. Working on a rotating shift roster, you will help passengers make informed travel decisions while ensuring smooth operational response.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and publish operational customer updates in line with disruption communication policy.
• Monitor live service data, analyse disruption trends and produce timely messaging.
• Prepare incident briefs for internal and external stakeholders to aid senior decision‑making.
• Collaborate with the TOC team and subject‑matter experts to maintain high‑quality communications.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement projects that enhance notification speed and accuracy.

Required profile

• Strong written communication skills with the ability to stay calm in fast‑paced, time‑critical situations.
• Experience producing clear, customer‑focused messages from multiple information sources.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and exercise sound judgement.
• Attention to detail and willingness to learn new operational systems.

Required skills

• Digital literacy and proficiency with advanced communication systems.
• Ability to analyse real‑time data and translate it into concise public updates.
