Common Area Cleaner / Houseperson

About the role

Avani Cypress Lakes Resort is expanding its housekeeping department and is hiring several full-time Common Area Cleaners / Housepersons. The role keeps shared guest areas clean and tidy and supports room attendants with supplies, linen and equipment. It is a rotating roster from Monday to Sunday, and is physically demanding, involving regular heavy lifting and moving bulky items.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness, presentation and hygiene of all guest-facing and housekeeping areas.
• Deliver clean linen, towels, amenities and supplies to rooms and storage areas, and collect and dispose of used linen and waste.
• Restock and keep housekeeping cupboards, storerooms and work areas clean, organised and well supplied.
• Respond promptly to guest and team requests and help move linen, supplies and equipment.
• Use cleaning equipment and products safely, following health, safety and environmental procedures.
• Report maintenance issues, damaged equipment and safety hazards.
• Work with the Housekeeping team to meet daily goals and deliver good guest service.

Required profile

• Previous resort or hotel experience is highly regarded.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to high cleanliness standards.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with good physical fitness and stamina for repetitive lifting and standing.
• Clear communication with guests, team members and contractors, and strong time management.
• Positive attitude and availability for flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
• Working rights in Australia or New Zealand only.
