Commissioning Technician - Security

About the role

Johnson Controls is looking for a Security Commissioning Technician to join its Systems team. You will commission, configure, test and optimise security systems such as access control, CCTV and intercom solutions across construction projects, tenancy fit-outs and large-scale customer environments. You will work with Project Managers, engineers and customers to deliver systems safely and in line with specifications, and may give technical support during the defects liability period.

Key responsibilities

• Install, commission, configure and maintain security systems including access control, CCTV and associated technologies
• Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, giving troubleshooting advice when needed
• Work with Project Managers, engineers and stakeholders to deliver projects on time and to specification
• Support project planning, scheduling and execution
• Maintain technical expertise through ongoing professional development
• Provide technical support and recommendations to Engineering and Sales teams
• Contribute to continuous improvement, quality standards and operational efficiencies
• Mentor and coach junior technicians and apprentices
• Report and mitigate workplace hazards and comply with the SHEMS safety, health and environment management system

Required profile

• 2-6 years' experience as a Security Technician or in a similar technical security systems role
• Trade qualification in Security Systems or a related field
• Ability to obtain or hold a current NSW Security Provider Licence
• Experience commissioning, configuring and troubleshooting integrated security solutions
• Experience designing and implementing small to medium-scale security systems
• Full working rights in Australia
• Eligible for pre-employment screening: medical assessment, criminal history check, reference checks and drug and alcohol testing
• Flexibility to travel as required

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of IT networks, server configuration and system integration principles
• Ability to read technical drawings and schematics, prepare technical reports and communicate clearly
