Commercial & Finance Director

About the role

ACCIONA is seeking an experienced Commercial & Finance Director to join the leadership team of the Wave Stage 1 Greenfield Project in Brisbane. This senior executive will oversee commercial, financial and project controls functions, ensuring the successful delivery of a large‑scale infrastructure project from inception to completion.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all commercial, finance and project controls activities across the project.
• Develop and implement commercial strategies that maximise performance and protect ACCIONA’s interests.
• Maintain strong client relationships while balancing collaborative stakeholder engagement with commercial objectives.
• Oversee contract management, change management, claims, negotiations and dispute resolution.
• Drive financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow management and financial reporting.
• Ensure robust project controls, including cost management, scheduling, performance reporting and earned‑value management.
• Lead risk and opportunity management processes to support informed decision‑making.
• Partner with the Project Director and senior leadership to provide strategic commercial and financial advice.
• Oversee procurement and subcontractor commercial performance.
• Build and lead a high‑performing multidisciplinary team across commercial, finance and project controls.

Required profile

• Significant experience in a senior commercial, finance or project controls role.
• Proven ability to lead large, complex infrastructure projects.
• Strong stakeholder management and client relationship skills.
• Demonstrated expertise in contract administration, change management and dispute resolution.
