Commercial & Contract Manager – Guided Weapons & Explosive Ordnance

About the role

KBR is looking for an experienced Commercial & Contract Manager to support the Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) programme, one of Australia’s largest defence capability initiatives. The role will be based in Melbourne or Canberra and will work closely with project teams, Commonwealth stakeholders and industry partners to drive procurement and contract outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development and delivery of complex procurement activities, including strategies, tender documentation, evaluation plans and approval submissions.
• Develop and manage Request for Tender (RFT) materials, evaluation reports and procurement schedules.
• Provide contract management support for ASDEFCON contracts, covering changes, deliverable reviews, performance monitoring and reporting.
• Assist with contract negotiations, delegate approvals, contract management plans and commercial governance activities.
• Deliver accurate commercial and financial advice to stakeholders and decision‑makers.
• Identify, assess and manage commercial, financial and delivery risks while ensuring compliance with Defence procurement policies and governance requirements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in commercial, procurement and contract management within a defence or large‑scale engineering environment.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Defence procurement policies, processes and governance frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to produce high‑quality briefs, approval submissions, reports and executive documentation.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to work collaboratively across government, industry and internal teams.
• Analytical mindset with a focus on risk identification and mitigation.
