Combat Systems Engineer

About the role

The DDG Combat Systems Engineer will support systems engineering activities for Destroyer Capability Enhancement upgrades on Royal Australian Navy platforms, working within a specialised domain team.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake systems engineering tasks including requirements analysis, functional analysis, architecture development and system design.
• Contribute to physical integration of the combat system, including design maturation, compartment layouts and human engineering.
• Develop Engineering Change Proposals and design modifications for assigned system changes.
• Support production product creation such as drawings, cable schedules and installation instructions.
• Manage production issues, deviations, non‑conformances and defect resolutions.
• Engage in technical discussions with customers and partner organisations.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Systems Engineering or equivalent experience, preferably in defence.
• Practitioner‑level experience in Systems Engineering (Requirements Management, System Architecture, Systems Integration, Verification & Validation).
• Significant experience with maritime combat systems and complex engineering trade‑space analysis.
• Experience in integration, test and evaluation of combat system products on naval platforms.
• Eligibility for Australian NV‑1 security clearance and ability to handle ITAR/EAR‑controlled technology.
• Australian citizenship and ability to obtain Defence Security Clearance.
