Cloud Engineer - Azure, IaC and DevOps

About the role

An experienced Cloud Engineer is sought in Melbourne, focused on the Investment, Wealth and Superannuation domain. The role centres on designing, building, automating, deploying and managing secure and scalable Azure workloads while following enterprise architecture standards. It involves implementing repeatable, reusable cloud infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code, setting engineering standards and automation patterns, and giving technical leadership to cross-functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions with Terraform and/or Azure Bicep/ARM templates, and build reusable modules and standardised deployment patterns.
• Integrate IaC with Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, including automated validation, testing, deployment and configuration management, using YAML and JSON scripts.
• Develop and enforce engineering standards, DevOps policies, IaC standards and cloud best practices, and guide engineering teams in adopting them.
• Design, build, deploy and configure Azure workloads, create solution architectures, design documents and functional specifications, and set up monitoring, logging and observability.
• Work with Azure API Management and Azure Key Vault for secure integrations and secrets management, and manage Microsoft Active Directory, RBAC and authentication/authorisation.
• Implement identity and access management solutions including SSO, SCIM and SAML.
• Take part in development, review technical designs, collaborate with architects, delivery squads, BAU teams, principal engineers and project managers, and document architectures, design models and reusable patterns.

Required profile

• Strong experience in Azure DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience implementing enterprise-scale IaC solutions and reusable infrastructure modules across multiple Azure environments.
• Preferred: prior experience in the Investment, Wealth or Superannuation domains.
