Clinical Nurse – Child Development Service

About the role

The Clinical Nurse (CN) provides advanced clinical and problem‑solving expertise to children with complex developmental needs within the Children’s Health Queensland Child Development Service. Working autonomously, the CN leads the planning, coordination and delivery of specialist nursing care, while contributing to education, research and portfolio management.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver specialist child development nursing care to paediatric clients with complex needs.
• Plan, manage and coordinate multidisciplinary care pathways.
• Provide clinical leadership and decision‑making support to the healthcare team.
• Apply critical thinking across all domains of patient care.
• Participate in education, research and professional development activities.
• Support management activities, including portfolio responsibilities.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with experience in paediatric or child development settings.
• Ability to practice autonomously and lead clinical decisions.
• Strong critical‑thinking and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
