Clinical Nurse - Cardiac Patient Education

About the role

The Townsville Hospital and Health Service is recruiting two fixed-term, full-time Clinical Nurses for Cardiac Patient Education, starting December 2026 (one 6-month and one 12-month position, possibly extended to no more than 2 years). The nurse provides clinical expertise, education and support to patients with a range of Cardiology and Cardiothoracic conditions, in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Key responsibilities

• Provide support and information to patients and their families
• Work with the multi-disciplinary team and the wider healthcare network
• Support communication and coordination of the inpatient journey and outpatient pre-admission clinics
• Deliver education and support using evidence-based guidelines

Required profile

• Mandatory: qualifications and proof of registration (AHPRA)
• Highly desirable: a relevant postgraduate qualification
• Extensive experience in a cardiology and cardiothoracic environment
• Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role; probation may apply; pre-employment checks will be conducted
