Clinical Case Manager - Registered Nurse

About the role

Healix International is recruiting an experienced Registered Nurse for its APAC Clinical Operations team in Melbourne. The nurse-led team, which also includes doctors, coordinators and administrators, coordinates medical care for people injured or unwell overseas and supports families through unfamiliar healthcare systems. The role is office-based, with patient contact maintained by telephone and digital platforms, and offers a shift pattern of 4 x 10-hour days between 8am and 8pm.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out medical case management focused on patient wellbeing and satisfaction
• Give medical advice and recommendations to patients and clients by telephone and digital means
• Liaise with international healthcare providers to obtain medical information, coordinate treatment and recommend care plans
• Assess medical reports, prepare referrals and advise on fitness to travel, including fitness to fly
• Run pre-travel medical screenings and give overseas travel health advice
• Work with colleagues and in-house doctors to build safe, effective care plans
• Arrange medical evacuations and repatriations by commercial airline (with medical escort) or air ambulance, and act as a medical escort on international repatriations
• Contribute to internal quality improvement initiatives

Required profile

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
• Post-registration clinical experience, ideally 3+ years
• Background such as primary care, acute care (ICU, ED, AAU), military or expedition nursing, public health or travel health, or humanitarian/NGO work is an advantage
• Previous case management or care coordination experience is advantageous
• Ability to work independently, within a team and with clients

Required skills

• Strong clinical judgement and excellent telephone and written communication in English
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and case management systems
• Additional languages are an advantage
