Cleansing Crew Operator – City Services

About the role

The City of Sydney is looking for motivated Cleansing Crew Operators to keep the city’s streets, footpaths, plazas and public precincts clean and vibrant. You will receive full training on a range of specialised cleaning equipment and will work on both day and night shifts to support the city’s Sustainable Sydney 2030‑2050 vision.

Key responsibilities

• Clean footpaths, roadways, plazas and public precincts using manual methods, pressure washers and mechanical sweepers.
• Service street litter bins and remove bulk waste, including illegal dumping.
• Operate and maintain street sweepers, waste compactors and other plant equipment.
• Drive and operate medium‑rigid or heavy‑vehicle trucks for waste removal.
• Adapt to changing priorities and undertake additional tasks as directed.

Required profile

• Physically fit and able to perform demanding manual cleaning tasks.
• Current Medium Rigid (MR) or Heavy Vehicle (HR) driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
• Willingness to work weekday shifts, some weekends and public holidays.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and complete a pre‑employment health declaration and medical assessment.
