Claims Consultant – General Insurance (Sydney)

About the role

Marsh Australia is looking for a Claims Consultant to join its Claims team in the Sydney office. The role handles a portfolio of general insurance claims for Local Government clients, with a focus on liability claims. It is a hybrid position requiring at least three days a week in the office, and is an initial 12-month fixed-term employment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end processes for a mixed portfolio of primarily Public Liability, Professional Indemnity and Property claims.
• Conduct accurate reserving and claims investigations, manage claims costs and negotiate with third parties.
• Build and maintain rapport with clients.
• Foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including brokers, underwriters and reinsurers.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in claims.
• Ability to work in Australia.
• Open to both candidates new to the industry and experienced ones; salary depends on experience.

Required skills

• Good written and oral communication skills.
• A strong customer service approach.
• The ability to stay calm under pressure and work flexibly when required.

Highly regarded but not required: previous experience managing public liability / casualty claims, relevant tertiary qualifications (Law, Business/Commerce, Loss Adjusting or ANZIIF), and previous client-facing experience.
