Claims Advisor (Financial Lines)

About the role

Marsh is seeking a Claims Advisor for its Financial Lines team, based in the Sydney or Melbourne office. This is a hybrid role with at least three days per week spent in the office. The advisor provides high-level expertise and manages claims under Directors & Officers (D&O), Professional Indemnity and other financial lines classes of business, acting as an advisor to a portfolio of SME to corporate clients.

Key responsibilities

• Handle specialist financial lines claims with a focus on client advocacy.
• Provide technical advice and support to clients from first notification through to final settlement, protecting their best interests.
• Advise clients and brokers on policy coverage and interpretation, and advocate against insurer denials.
• Respond to broker and client queries, hold meetings and liaise with clients, insurers, claimants and external providers.
• Manage moderate to complex claims in line with company processes and Client Service Agreements.
• Identify claims referral opportunities and work with the Advocacy team on claims issues.

Required profile

• Ideally 2+ years of insurance claims experience, preferably in financial lines.
• A law degree and experience in the legal environment, or ANZIIF qualifications, are advantageous but not required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, insurers and their agents and representatives.
• Willingness to go the extra mile for client satisfaction and ambition to build a career in insurance.
• Good interpersonal skills, able to work in a team or independently.
• Approval to work in Australia; a criminal and bankruptcy check is required before starting.
