Civil Team Lead - Urban Development

About the role

A well-established civil and structural engineering consultancy, active across the East Coast for two decades, is adding a second Civil Team Lead to its inner Brisbane civil team. The team works alongside the buildings team and has grown to around 20 engineers, designers and drafters; the role is new, not a replacement. About 30% of the week is leadership (check-ins, mentoring, removing roadblocks) and the rest is hands-on delivery of the civil side of major built-form projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver the civil side of building developments, covering site works, stormwater, earthworks, pavements, services and approvals
• Hold regular check-ins with the team, mentor and coach engineers and designers, and remove roadblocks
• Help steer the team, support its people and keep projects on track
• Manage budgets and programs across a portfolio of projects

Required profile

• Degree-qualified civil engineer with 8+ years' experience, ideally RPEQ (or eligible)
• Strong track record on civil components of residential, aged care, health, education or commercial projects
• Experience leading or mentoring engineers and designers, ready for a formal leadership role
• Enjoys people leadership, including coaching and having the harder conversations
• Wants to lead and deliver, not chase work; business development is not required
