Chef (Luxury Houseboat) – 2027 Season

About the role

Journey Beyond, Australia's leading experiential tourism group, is hiring a Chef for its luxury houseboat, Horizontal Falls Seaplane Adventures, for the 2027 season. The role manages the onboard galley end to end, from ordering and provisioning through to serving up to 20 guests and crew, in a guest-facing kitchen. The schedule is swings of 10-12 days at sea with 3-4 days off in Broome.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver a first-class menu covering breakfast, lunch, grazing platters, dinner and dessert, tailored to guest dietary requirements and seasonal ingredients
• Independently manage the kitchen, including food preparation, cooking, presentation and service, while keeping the highest hygiene and safety standards
• Manage food provisioning, ordering, inventory and stock control, keeping food costs within budget and ingredients fresh and high quality
• Collaborate with the onboard team and engage with guests to give a personalised dining experience
• Keep the kitchen clean and organised, complying with health, safety, food safety and HACCP requirements
• Follow all SOPs, operational procedures and vessel standards

Required profile

• Prior experience as a Chef, preferably in remote tourism, luxury lodges, private yachts, cruise operations or other premium hospitality
• Strong culinary skills and creativity, able to run a kitchen independently in a small, close-knit team
• Good time management, ability to work under pressure and adapt to varying guest needs
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, as the role is guest-facing

• First Aid, CPR and WA RSA
