Chair of Medicine

About the role

The Chair of Medicine is a dual appointment across Adelaide University and the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network, based at the Lyell McEwin and Modbury Hospitals. This senior position leads clinical teaching, research and service development within the School of Medicine and the health network.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for medical education and clinical teaching across NALHN.
• Oversee junior medical staff and contribute to curriculum development.
• Drive research initiatives and support scholarly activity within the School of Medicine.
• Collaborate with academic and clinical leaders to shape policy and service improvement.
• Represent the institution in external academic and health forums.

Required profile

• Established record in teaching, research and clinical practice.
• Demonstrated leadership in medical education.
• Ability to work across academic and health service environments.
• Strong communication and collaborative skills.

Required skills

• Clinical expertise in medicine.
• Experience in curriculum design and delivery.
• Research methodology and grant acquisition.
