About the role
We are seeking a Category Specialist to join our Procurement team in Newcastle. You will support the execution of Whitehaven Coal’s procurement strategy and manage tenders for goods and services.
Key responsibilities
- Manage category strategies and supplier relationships.
- Conduct contract negotiations and lead tender processes.
- Negotiate supplier pricing and review spend levels.
- Identify and reduce commercial risk.
- Support sustainable procurement outcomes.
- Occasional travel to operating sites.
Required profile
- Experience in procurement, category management or sourcing.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience leading tenders.
- Excellent analytical abilities and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Understanding of the mining, resources or construction industry is a plus.
