Category Specialist – Procurement (Newcastle)

About the role

We are seeking a Category Specialist to join our Procurement team in Newcastle. You will support the execution of Whitehaven Coal’s procurement strategy and manage tenders for goods and services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage category strategies and supplier relationships.
• Conduct contract negotiations and lead tender processes.
• Negotiate supplier pricing and review spend levels.
• Identify and reduce commercial risk.
• Support sustainable procurement outcomes.
• Occasional travel to operating sites.

Required profile

• Experience in procurement, category management or sourcing.
• Strong negotiation skills and experience leading tenders.
• Excellent analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Understanding of the mining, resources or construction industry is a plus.
