Category Insights Consultant

About the role

This client‑facing position supports leading FMCG and retail brands by turning complex shopper and category data into clear, actionable recommendations. You will work closely with stakeholders to define business challenges and deliver insight‑driven strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and develop relationships across a portfolio of FMCG and retail clients, including onsite collaboration.
• Consult with stakeholders to define business problems and objectives.
• Analyse shopper, sales, loyalty and survey data to uncover commercially relevant insights.
• Translate complex data into clear, compelling narratives and presentations.
• Present insights regularly to senior client teams.
• Continuously grow expertise in category, shopper and loyalty strategy.

Required profile

• Background in a research agency, shopper insights consultancy, category team or FMCG insights environment.
• Enjoys direct client interaction and clear communication of insights.
• Commercially minded with the ability to interpret data in a business context.

Required skills

• Experience working with sales, loyalty, customer or survey data.
• Category knowledge such as range optimisation, product deletions, innovation, planograms, pricing, promotions and shopper missions.
• Strong understanding of market, sales and shopper data.
