Casual Youth Worker - School Holidays & Weekends

About the role

Red Centre Support Services is looking for teachers, educators and experienced child and youth professionals to join its casual Youth Worker team in Mount Isa, Queensland. The work supports children and young people in residential care during school holidays and weekends, using skills in relationship building, communication and supporting young people in a residential care setting. Shifts depend on the needs of the young people, roster requirements and availability, and may include evenings, public holidays and sleepovers.

Key responsibilities

• Build positive relationships and maintain clear, consistent boundaries.
• Support daily routines, meal preparation and household tasks.
• Help young people take part in recreational activities and community outings.
• Support emotional regulation and respond calmly to challenging situations.
• Follow individual support plans and organisational procedures.
• Complete accurate shift notes and communicate with the team.

Required profile

• A teaching, education, youth work, community services or other relevant qualification, assessed against Queensland residential care requirements.
• Experience supporting children or young people, including complex needs or behaviours.
• Calm, consistent approach and understanding of professional boundaries.
• Reliable availability during school holidays and/or weekends.
• Current driver's licence and the ability to transport young people safely.
• Right to work in Australia.
