Funeral Director Assistant

About the role

Mayday Recruitment is partnering with a respected funeral services organisation to recruit a Funeral Services Assistant in Lidcombe. The role suits someone who is compassionate and service-driven, and comfortable working in a sensitive environment supporting families at important moments. You will work closely with the local team to help deliver professional funeral services to the community, contributing to a workplace where customer care, teamwork and service quality are key.

Key responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service to families, clients and internal stakeholders
• Support funeral services and day-to-day operations at the location
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures and quality standards
• Assist with preparation, coordination and service delivery as required
• Contribute to a collaborative and respectful team environment
• Support health, safety and wellbeing standards in the workplace

Required profile

• Experience in a service-focused environment or the ability to learn quickly
• Current unrestricted driver's licence
• Comfortable working in circumstances involving death, grief and deceased persons
• Strong communication skills with a calm, empathetic approach
• High attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
• Sensitivity and respect for diverse values, beliefs and cultural practices
• Physically and psychologically fit to manage manual handling, stress and the inherent requirements of the role

Desirable

• Exposure to or understanding of the funeral services industry, or willingness to learn
• Background in hospitality, retail, community services or a similar people-focused industry
