Casual Shutdown Fitter - BlueScope Steel, Hastings

About the role

Chelgrave Contracting Australia is recruiting casual fitters to work on-site at BlueScope Steel in Hastings, a global leader in steel manufacturing. The work centres on shutdowns and maintenance down days, where you will work on different systems and machinery, so no two days are alike.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and repair heavy industrial equipment during shutdowns and maintenance down days
• Work on a variety of systems and machinery, adapting to new challenges each day
• Meet deadlines and stay punctual and dependable during shutdown periods
• Follow safety protocols strictly and adhere to safety policies and procedures

Required profile

• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with heavy industrial equipment
• Relevant trade qualifications in mechanical fitting or related fields (essential)
• Punctuality, dependability and commitment to meeting deadlines
• Effective communication with colleagues and supervisors
• Experience in steel manufacturing is ideal but not required; some heavy industrial experience is beneficial
