Casual Lecturer in Information Technology and Systems

About the role

VIT Australia, a dual-sector higher and vocational education provider offering IT and Business programs, offers casual lecturer positions in Information Technology and Systems in Sydney in 2024. Positions report directly to the Executive Dean / Academic Discipline Head. Candidates must be able to teach multiple units across Bachelor and Master's degrees, preferably in Data Analytics, Enterprise & Solutions Architecture, Application and Solutions Integration, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Cloud Computing, Advanced Software Engineering, IT Networking, IT Project Management, ICT Capstone Projects, DevOps, Mobile Computing, Agile Methodology and other listed areas.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain on-campus hours as rostered.
• Teach ICT Bachelor and Master course units, face-to-face and/or online, as assigned by the Discipline Head or delegates.
• Conduct tutorials and labs and support student learning through active consulting.
• Mark assessments, examinations and projects.
• Prepare and develop learning materials for a multi-modal learning environment.
• Handle course administration such as student progress, examinations and academic records.
• Provide pastoral care and support to students.
• Take part in continuous improvement, committees and professional development, and other duties assigned by the Executive Dean and/or Discipline Head.

Required profile

• PhD in Information and Communications Technology or a closely related discipline.
• At least three years of Higher Education ICT teaching experience in Australia.
• Experience delivering units digitally in Higher Education.
• Australian full work rights.
• Enthusiasm for educating international students and a record of scholarly engagement.
• Experience collaborating with partner organisations, industry and community groups.

Required skills

• Strong courseware development skills (essential).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially with students.
• Advantageous: professional IT certification, hands-on industry experience, course administration experience and knowledge of university academic administration.
