Casual Chef – School Catering

About the role

Eurest, part of Compass Group Australia, is looking for a casual chef to join its team in Lake Burrendong, near Dubbo and Wellington. The role oversees and assists in preparing, bulk cooking and presenting meals to a high standard across school groups, corporate functions and day-to-day guests, during a period of growth for the business.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and assist in the preparation, bulk cooking and presentation of meals to a consistently high standard across group settings
• Cater for large school groups, corporate functions and general day-to-day guests
• Ensure meals meet dietary requirements and allergen controls, especially when catering for children
• Maintain high standards of hygiene, food safety and presentation in line with HACCP and internal guidelines
• Monitor food costs through portion control, waste minimisation and stock management
• Support the development of healthy menu options and nutritional awareness

Required profile

• Cert III in Commercial Cookery (essential)
• Proven experience in bulk or high-volume cooking environments
• Strong understanding of allergen management and dietary needs, particularly in settings involving children
• Ability to work collaboratively with a small team of kitchen staff
• Passion for fresh, café-style food with an eye for quality and presentation
• Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check (must be able to obtain or hold)

Required skills

• Food Safety Supervisor certification (highly regarded)
• Sound knowledge of food safety standards, OH&S practices and kitchen compliance requirements

The pay is $36.82 per hour, inclusive of 25% casual loading, 12% superannuation and penalty rates. Applications are made through the employer's recruitment process.
