Cafe Chef - Casual

About the role

Anglicare Sydney is looking for a Cafe Chef for its Seniors Community at Castle Hill Village. This is a casual position, Monday to Friday, covering planned leave and higher demand during the Christmas period. You will oversee the daily operation of the cafe, prepare high-quality meals and work closely with the Food and Beverage Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present meals, cafe items and catering orders to a consistently high standard
• Support menu planning, seasonal menu updates and the delivery of cafe services
• Monitor food quality, storage, preparation and handling, and maintain stock levels through stocktakes
• Keep kitchen operations and workflows efficient
• Deliver excellent customer service to residents, visitors and guests and help promote cafe services
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and cleanliness in line with HACCP requirements, follow workplace health and safety policies and keep equipment and workstations safe

Required profile

• Commercial Cookery Certificate or equivalent qualification
• 2-3 years' experience in hospitality, catering or food service, including food preparation, kitchen operations and menu planning
• FSS (Food Safety Supervisor) certification
• Strong spoken and written English
• Preferred: experience in aged care, retirement living, healthcare or community settings, and experience with ordering, stock control and food cost management

Required skills

• Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene and HACCP
• Preferred: Microsoft Office skills and general computer literacy
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
