About the role

Ausgrid, the largest electricity distributor on Australia's east coast, is hiring a Cable Jointer. The role is critical to keeping the underground network safe, reliable and affordable, working to high standards of quality, cost and time. It is a permanent full-time position with a fortnightly rostered day off, paid at $94k-$103k base plus 16.5% superannuation, with locations available across Sydney, the Central Coast, Newcastle and the Upper Hunter.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, install and maintain underground network infrastructure and electrical equipment
• Work safely near live electrical apparatus, from structures to cables
• Prepare work sites and liaise with internal and external stakeholders
• Resolve customer issues and interpret technical documentation
• Play a key role in emergency restoration work

Required profile

• Cert III in ESI Power Systems (or equivalent)
• Proven experience in an electrical trade role in electricity distribution or a related industry, including line work
• Class MR driver's licence
• Electrical Safety Rules accreditation and other relevant statutory training
• Knowledge of safe working practices, network standards and codes of practice
• High Risk Work Licences (e.g. Elevated Work Platform and Dogging)
• WH&S WorkCover general induction, asbestos awareness and safe manual handling experience
• Full Australian work rights
