Business Manager - Management Accounting (AS05)

About the role

A state government client in South Australia is looking for a Business Manager to deliver core management accounting support and financial advisory. The role is based in Adelaide CBD, starts immediately and runs for 6 months on a temporary, full-time basis (with potential for extension). It suits an experienced finance and business professional who enjoys management accounting, financial analysis and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Budgeting and forecasting: develop annual budgets and submissions with management, monitor performance and investigate expenditure variances and trends.
• Reconciliations and transaction management: run monthly reconciliations such as budgeted versus actual full-time employees, and ensure journals, accruals and invoices are accurately processed in financial systems.
• Management accounting and financial analysis: analyse monthly performance, evaluate cost efficiencies and develop project cost/benefit analyses.
• Financial reporting: produce monthly financial reports and commentary, and help prepare financial statements for senior leadership.
• Stakeholder engagement: advise directorate management teams, clinical leaders and central finance on financial matters.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce or Business; CPA or CA accreditation is highly regarded.
• Demonstrated experience in management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Proven ability to perform complex reconciliations and manage financial transactions accurately.
• Experience level around 5 years.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Advanced communication and problem-solving skills, able to present financial data clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
• Interpersonal skills to lead discussions, influence stakeholders and work cooperatively across teams.
