Business Information Security Officer – Transport Sector

About the role

Join Ventia’s Transport team in North Sydney as the Business Information Security Officer (BISO). You will act as the primary subject‑matter expert for cyber security and compliance, shaping the security posture across a nationally significant transport portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Lead cyber risk identification and management across multiple transport contracts, implementing fit‑for‑purpose controls.
• Ensure compliance with the SOCI Act, regulatory requirements, and internal standards, supporting audits and assurance activities.
• Provide guidance on securing OT environments, including SCADA, signalling and ITS systems, embedding security‑by‑design principles.
• Partner with operational and engineering teams to deliver practical, risk‑based security advice.
• Support governance, security reporting, protective security initiatives and incident readiness across the sector.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience within the transport sector.
• Proven success in a senior cyber security leadership role (e.g., BISO, CISO) in complex operational environments.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills, able to influence at executive and operational levels.
• Experience with Operational Technology (OT) and Industrial Control Systems (ICS) security.
