Business Development Manager – Sydney, Hunter & Mudgee

About the role

A new Business Development Manager seat is open across Sydney, the Hunter and Mudgee. The company repairs, rebuilds and services hydraulic equipment (cylinders, pumps, motors, valves, hose reels) from workshops in Sydney and Mudgee, and carries the APT training brand alongside its service business. The role owns the customer and the account, with no internal desk taking it over once it starts transacting.

Key responsibilities

• Work the account list: existing customers, lapsed ones and businesses quoted but never converted.
• Map out who else runs hydraulics in the territory, who services them and where the openings are.
• Reach out to businesses that have never heard of the company, cold, warm or by referral.
• Gather photos, details and system information, send it to the right person to price, and follow up quotes, POs and silent customers.
• Open training conversations where they fit and bring in the APT team at the right moment.
• Travel to Sydney at least twice a week, the Hunter and Mudgee weekly, with occasional nights away.

Required profile

• Track record of winning customers who had never bought from the company before.
• Industrial, mechanical or technical B2B sales experience, able to talk on a plant floor.
• Licence and willingness to cover the territory.
• Helpful: hydraulics or fluid power background, existing relationships in mining, quarrying, construction, ports, tunnelling or heavy industry in NSW, and experience selling both a service and a training offer.

What we offer

• $110,000 - $130,000 base plus 12% superannuation, depending on experience.
• Fully maintained dual cab, branded vehicle of your own.
• Direct reporting to the Operations Manager and the Chief Commercial Officer, with a six-month probation and a twelve-month plan thereafter.
• Technical support, pricing and training systems explained to you.
