Business Development Manager - Sport & Community Sector
Club Builder The Grant Professionals · Melbourne
Job description
About the role
Club Builder The Grant Professionals, an industry leader in strategic planning, facility strategy and funding support for Australian sporting and community organisations, is hiring a Business Development Manager in Melbourne CBD. Reporting to the General Manager, Sales, you will drive sustainable, profitable growth through new client acquisition, renewals, extensions, upgrades and cross-selling, working with sporting club and association leaders, community groups, councils and government stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Build and convert a qualified pipeline: work with the First Human Contact team on leads and meetings, run discovery, prepare proposals and present scope and fees, then confirm decision processes and maintain an accurate forecast.
- Retain and grow existing clients: identify expiring contracts, lead renewal and extension conversations, identify upgrades and complementary services, and escalate delivery concerns.
- Sell the full service portfolio responsibly, including grant-ready and grant assistance services, and explain grant conditions and success-fee arrangements accurately.
- Maintain accurate HubSpot records, including Leads and Prospects workflows, call and meeting notes, deal amounts and stage history.
- Protect delivery quality and commercial outcomes: obtain approval for non-standard discounts and scope, check delivery feasibility, give complete handovers, coordinate kick-offs and support payment follow-up.
- Share market feedback with marketing and management, and coach sales support staff and interns.
Required profile
- Proven track record in business development, sales or client relationship management.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with negotiation and influencing ability.
- Strategic thinking, sound commercial judgement and excellent organisation and follow-through.
- Genuine passion for community sport and familiarity with Australian sport and recreation structures.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a busy team, and to remain objective and delegate appropriately.
Required skills
- Confidence using CRM systems and Microsoft Office; HubSpot experience is valuable.
- Experience with Monday.com, Xero, Mailchimp, Canva, JotForm and SurveyMonkey as required.
What we offer
- Permanent full-time position with hybrid working (three days in the office, two days from home).
- Office at 101 Collins Street, Melbourne.
- Salary negotiated with the successful candidate; commencement as soon as possible.
