Building Cadet (Graduate Program)

About the role

BESIX Watpac, a builder with over a century of heritage in Australia, is looking for a Building Cadet to join its Construction VIC division on a part-time basis. The cadet works through to the two-year Graduate and Early Career Development Program, which covers Engineering, Design, Estimating and Safety, and offers workshops, networking and social events.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing cost plans and tenders by reviewing project requirements, compiling tender documentation and coordinating proposed tender lists.
• Support quality assurance and safety management by monitoring compliance with project standards, documenting non-conformances and helping implement corrective actions.
• Contribute to estimating and project controls through quantity take-offs, cost analysis, subcontractor scope reviews, procurement support, tender submissions and budget forecasts.
• Help with general site duties and office and administration as required.

Required profile

• Currently studying a university-level degree in Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven professionalism, work ethic, timeliness, accuracy and punctuality.
• Transferable skills are welcome even if not every requirement is met.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook.
• Willingness to learn new software packages as required.
