Broadband Devices Tester (Contract)

About the role

Hastha Solutions is recruiting a Broadband Devices Tester on a 6-month contract in Melbourne, with possible extension. The tester validates, tests and ensures the performance, quality and stability of Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) such as modems, routers, gateways, Wi-Fi access points and Set-Top Boxes, bridging raw hardware and end-user performance through real-world load simulation, firmware troubleshooting and protocol optimisation.

Key responsibilities

• Run automated and manual test plans for new CPE hardware, ONT/ONU modules and cable modems.
• Verify embedded systems using TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, NAT, IPv4/IPv6, PPPoE and TR-069/TR-369 remote management.
• Evaluate Wi-Fi 6, 6E and Wi-Fi 7 performance, including packet loss, signal drop-offs and roaming throughput.
• Develop and maintain test automation scripts in Python (Pytest) or Shell, and use traffic generators and packet sniffers to simulate multi-gigabit loads.
• Log defects with system logs, Wireshark traces and console output, and work with engineering teams to fix them.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Telecommunications, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• 2-5 years of experience in broadband device validation, ISP network engineering or embedded system QA.
• Australian or New Zealand citizens or PR holders only.

Required skills

• Knowledge of DOCSIS, GPON/FTTx and IEEE 802.11 wireless standards.
• Tools: Ixia/Spirent traffic generators, Wireshark, iPerf, SNMP, Linux CLI, Python (Pytest), Boardfarm, Jenkins and GitLab CI.
• Strong log analysis and troubleshooting, and clear documentation of bugs for hardware vendors.
