Bid & Proposals Manager

About the role

Alfabs Engineering & Services is seeking an experienced Bid & Proposals Manager to lead its estimating function and secure major projects. Reporting to the Business Development Manager, you will shape tender strategy, mentor the estimating team and work closely with senior leadership and Tier 1 clients.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a high‑performing Estimating & Bid Team.
• Manage complex, high‑value tenders from opportunity through to submission.
• Develop accurate cost estimates, methodologies, resource plans and programs.
• Review tender requirements, identify commercial and project risks, and develop risk‑adjusted strategies.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering and Projects to create competitive tender solutions.
• Support Go/No‑Go decisions and develop subcontract packages.
• Build strong relationships with Tier 1 clients and support negotiations.
• Present major tender recommendations to senior and executive leadership.

Required profile

• 5–7+ years estimating experience in construction, engineering, infrastructure, mining or heavy industry.
• Proven track record estimating projects valued $10M–$40M.
• Leadership experience with ability to mentor high‑performing teams.
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, commercial risk and project delivery.
• Experience developing subcontract packages, tender strategies and Go/No‑Go assessments.
• Relevant qualifications in Engineering, Construction Management or a trade/technical discipline.

• Advanced Excel for cost modelling and analysis.
• Analytical, communication and presentation skills.
