Batcher in Charge - Concrete Plant

About the role

Heidelberg Materials is hiring a Batcher in Charge for its concrete plant in Rockhampton, Queensland. The role is responsible for the efficient and accurate batching and dispatching of concrete products, ensuring quality, safety and customer service while meeting customer requirements. It is a full-time contractor position.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the concrete batching plant and associated equipment, including mixers, conveyors and aggregate hoppers.
• Measure and weigh raw materials (cement, aggregates, water, admixtures) accurately according to specified mix designs.
• Monitor and control the batching process to ensure consistent quality and compliance with Australian standards.
• Perform quality control checks on concrete mixes, including slump tests and sampling for strength testing.
• Coordinate with dispatch and delivery teams for timely loading and dispatch of concrete trucks.
• Maintain production records such as batch sheets, material usage and delivery logs.
• Carry out routine maintenance and troubleshooting of batching plant equipment.
• Follow company safety policies, wear PPE, keep the workplace clean and communicate with colleagues, supervisors and truck drivers.

Required profile

• Prior experience in concrete batching or a similar heavy industry operational role is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of concrete mix designs and quality control procedures.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening.

Required skills

• Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in measurements.
• Strong multitasking and independent work skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Current valid driver's licence; Front End Loader ticket is advantageous.
