BAS Accountant

About the role

PKF Perth, a locally owned firm supporting the Western Australian business community since over 40 years, is looking for an Accountant to join its Business Advisory Services (BAS) team. Working closely with Senior Accountants, Managers and Partners, you will gain exposure to a diverse range of clients and industries while developing your technical accounting and taxation skills.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements, income tax returns and Business Activity Statements for a diverse portfolio of clients.
• Perform bookkeeping, reconciliations and month-end accounting activities.
• Complete payroll tax and other compliance obligations within statutory deadlines.
• Analyse financial information and assist clients with accounting and taxation matters.
• Liaise with clients, the ATO and other stakeholders to support client outcomes.
• Manage your workflow and deadlines so that work is delivered accurately and on time.
• Use accounting technologies and identify ways to improve efficiency and processes.
• Continue developing your technical accounting, taxation and advisory knowledge through ongoing learning.

Required profile

• CA, CPA or equivalent qualification in progress, or a willingness to commence.
• 2+ years' experience in business advisory, tax or accounting within a professional services environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Proactive mindset, commitment to continuous improvement and high-quality client service in a collaborative team.
• Ability to take ownership of work and manage competing priorities; strong communication skills.

Required skills

• Experience with accounting platforms such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks or similar.
• Technical accounting and taxation knowledge.
