Backend Engineer

About the role

FOBOH is building an AI‑driven SaaS platform that helps food and beverage wholesalers reduce waste, accelerate payments and operate more sustainably. As one of the first engineering hires, you will shape the backend architecture and set the technical culture for a fast‑growing product.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy scalable backend services and APIs on AWS using Node.js.
• Build data ingestion pipelines that consolidate unstructured data from multiple sources.
• Implement AI‑driven features, including integration of large language models.
• Translate business requirements into robust, secure and maintainable code.
• Write automated tests, ensure code quality and maintain comprehensive documentation.
• Collaborate closely with a small engineering team to define standards and best practices.

Required profile

• Strong passion for building complex products from the ground up.
• Ability to own the full lifecycle of features, from design to rollout.
• Comfort working in ambiguous, fast‑moving environments and balancing technical debt.
• Team player who can voice opinions and contribute to a collaborative culture.
• Genuine interest in sustainability and the impact of food waste.
