Aviation Market Sector Leader – Building Engineering

About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced Aviation Market Sector Leader to grow its building engineering business across the aviation sector in Australia. The role will be based in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne and involves leading multidisciplinary airport terminal projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support the growth of AECOM's aviation building engineering business and deliver on the aviation strategy.
• Act as project director/design manager on major airport terminal projects, overseeing multidisciplinary teams.
• Develop and maintain relationships with airport operators, clients, and industry partners, leading bids and pursuits.
• Mentor and grow high‑performing teams, supporting technical and professional development.
• Identify opportunities, attend industry events, and create integrated design solutions for clients.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience with an engineering degree (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic or civil) and a track record of delivering major airport projects in Australia.
• Strong multidisciplinary design management and senior project leadership experience, including bids and tenders.
• Proven commercial and business development capability with senior stakeholder engagement.
• Collaborative leadership style with a focus on developing people and high‑performing teams.
