AU Accountant – Event Management Finance

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑driven AU Accountant to own the day‑to‑day financial operations of The Event Mill, a Perth‑based events company within the Expo Centric group. The role combines accurate bookkeeping, compliance with Australian accounting standards, and the delivery of clear financial insights to support fast‑paced event‑related decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain ledgers and financial records, recording transactions in Xero.
• Process accounts payable and receivable, including supplier invoices and customer billing.
• Monitor outstanding invoices, follow up on payments and reconcile bank, credit‑card and multi‑currency accounts.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements.
• Ensure compliance with Australian financial legislation and internal policies.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies promptly and support internal and external audit processes.
• Present financial insights to management and contribute to continuous improvement of financial systems.
• Support finance processes across event hire, event management, supplier payments, customer billing and project‑related financial tracking.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• CA or CPA qualification (highly regarded).
• Minimum three years’ experience in an Australian accounting or finance role.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset and ability to work autonomously while collaborating with a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Xero accounting software.
• Experience with payment platforms such as Stripe and handling multi‑currency accounts.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Knowledge of Australian accounting standards and financial reporting.
